Biography

Phill Bettis has practiced law in Forsyth County, Georgia – near his hometown of Cumming – since he was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1980. In May of 2001, Phill left the firm of Boling, Rice, Bettis and Martin to establish his own practice specializing in real estate, corporate, and probate law and mediation and dispute resolution. He now serves as senior Of Counsel with Hill & Watchko, LLC, in addition to managing his own firm. In December of 2013, Phill was appointed as an associate judge on the Magistrate Court of Forsyth County.
 
A native of Forsyth County, Phill enjoys taking an active role in the community. He is currently the Chairperson and a Trustee of the Benjamin Brady Foundation, which supports many local charities. Phill has served as a Vice Chairman of the Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation, and is an ordained Deacon. He is a former Executive Committee Member of the Georgia Baptist Convention. Phill was the 2005 Chairman of the State Bar of Georgia Committee on Professionalism and a former Trustee of the Forsyth County Library Board and Lanier Technical College as well as a member of the Board of Visitors at Shorter University. Phill was honored to be named the 2004 Volunteer of the Year by the Metro Atlanta YMCA, and was also named as an Atlanta Magazine Georgia Super Lawyer for 2005, 2009, 2010, again in 2018. Phill was selected for inclusion in Georgia Trend Magazine’s Legal Elite in 2012 in the area of Real Estate law.
 
Aside from his law practice, service as judge, and community activities, Phill has authored a book titled “The Little Book of Annoying Questions,” which was published in summer 2012. Phill is working on his second book now. He also enjoys spending time with his friends and family, including his wife and three children.
