Biography

Laura Barfield Baxter’s focus includes estate planning, probate matters (including guardianships and conservatorships), corporate work, and litigation. Laura practiced law in Macon, Georgia for over nine years before moving to the Atlanta area. While in Macon, Laura had exposure to a wide variety of corporate transactional work, probate issues, and business litigation. Laura is licensed to practice in both Georgia and Tennessee.
 
Laura obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 1998, with a B.A. in English and Political Science. Following graduation, she decided to pursue a law degree while working at a non-profit organization in Charlotte, North Carolina, realizing that a law degree would be a useful tool in serving others.  Laura attended Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia, graduating in 2004. She was a member of Mercer’s Moot Court Board and served as a student coach.
 
Laura has helped numerous rural clients receive pro bono estate planning services through the Georgia Appleseed program. She also volunteers with the Dekalb County Probate Clinic, the Georgia Justice Project, and Bible Study Fellowship.
 
Laura is a native of Perry, Georgia. She and her husband, Jamie, have one daughter, Kate, and two miniature Australian Shepherds, Nickels and Oliver.
